Pom-poms are a great craft activity and so relaxing to make. Use them for jazzing up, wrapping on presents, articles of clothing, bags, jackets and decorations around the home.

Crafts with your hand
- Wrap the wool around your hands, approximately 100 times to make a nice, fluffy pom-pom.
- Carefully slide the coil of wool off your hand.
- Tie a length of wool yarn around the centre of the coil of wool, as tightly as you can, securing with a double knot.
- Wrap the length around several times before securing with a double knot and trimming the ends.
- Cut through the bottom of the wrapped yarn to create your pom-pom.
- Lastly, neatly trim your tassel to your preferred length. Hooray, your pom-pom is ready!
Create a pom–pom using a card template
- Use scraps of cardboard to create two identical C shaped rings, as shown.
- Wrap your yarn around the cardboard rings. Keep going until it is nice and plump.
- Start snipping through the wrapped yarn, all along the edge of the rings.
- Next, cut a length of yarn and tie it around the middle of the pom-pom, in-between the two cardboard rings.
- Wrap it around twice, pulling the yarn as tight as you can, then secure with a double knot.
- Carefully remove the cardboard template. If you need to, trim your pom-pom to even out the shape.
Craft a mini pom-pom with a fork
- Wrap the wool around the fork as shown, approximately 50 times to make a nice, fluffy pom-pom.
- Tie a length of yarn or thread around the centre of the coil of wool, as tightly as you can, securing with a double knot. It makes things easier, and also looks nice, if this thread is of a different color.
- Carefully slide the coil of wool off the fork.
- Now take your scissors and cut through the two loops of wool on either side.
- Your mini pom-pom will be wild and wooly! Time for a haircut. Be careful not to trim through the thread.
- Trim carefully around the pom-pom until you have an even round ball. Roll it in your hands to finish off.
