DIY Fruity Maracas: make and shake!

Looking for a fun activity? Why not make your own DIY maracas? All you need to make these fun Fruity Maracas are the Happythought printable templates, scissors, a glue stick and some rice!

These brand new templates are free to download to Happythought Members, as a part of the Happythought CraftClub.

How to make a Strawberry Maraca

Step One Print your templates on to a light card stock (around 120-140g).

Step Two Trim carefully around the maraca templates.

Step Three Fold the tabs on your fruit template as shown.

Step Four Carefully glue the fruit together leaving the top ‘lid’ open. You can reinforce the inside of the fruit with masking or sticky tape (optional).

Step Five Roll the blue rectangular template around a pencil, and secure the open side with glue to form a tube. Your tube should have a diameter of approx. 12mm.

Step Six Slide the tube into the bottom of the fruit (so that at least 15mm is inside the base), to form the handle of the maraca.

Step Seven Glue the triangular tabs on to the outside of the tube to hold it in place.

Step Eight Wrap the smaller strip around the top of the handle to add reinforcement.

Step Nine Roll up a small ball of paper or tissue.

Step Ten Insert the ball of paper into the end of the handle, and push it down using a pencil. This is stop the rice falling out!

Step Eleven Next fill the fruit with a tablespoon of rice.

Step Twelve Close the lid and glue the tabs in place.
